Types of tourist accommodation in Australia
Australia has a lot of different types of tourist accommodation to choose from. We've written about them on our Accommodation page.
Touring on the Wayward Bus
The name was taken from John Steinbeck's book 'The Wayward Bus' published in the 1940's. It means 'off-course, cheeky and independent to the max!'
From their website (http://www.waywardbus.com.au/):
"Who is a Wayward traveller? At heart Wayward Bus is a backpacker-style tour and most of our travellers would be in their 20s and 30s. But being labelled with stereotypes is something we're not about. We're proud our reputation attracts independent travellers of all ages with a 'backpacker' attitude looking for a more authentic, informative and easy-paced way to go. On the other hand, we are NOT a 'party-bus' - people have a better time when the 'fun' isn't forced.
"From July 2000 our Mercedes and Toyota fleet is all mini-coaches except for one Landcruiser (on 'Just the Centre' tours). All have high-back cloth seats (except the L'cruiser), air-con, window tinting and stereos. Most of the minis are 21 seaters but we also have one each of 16, 18*, 24* and 27 seaters. (*=recliner seats) We are retiring the last of our bigger Outback Dennings (36 seater) by June.
"Meals are included on all tours except for dinners on the Classic Coast. The emphasis is on wholesome, tasty, fresh and plenty. Our crew ask travellers to assist in preparation and cleaning. We can cater for vegetarians, halal, allergic reactions - let us know when booking."

Online street maps of major Australian cities
UBD is one of several major producers of Australian street maps, some of which are online at: http://www.whereis.com.au/
You can search for streets in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Sunshine Coast (an area north of Brisbane), Gold Coast (south of Brisbane) and Geelong. The site claims that more maps are being added.
